Restore Natural Drinking Water
Water, the source of life, nourishes all things on earth. It is also a necessity for industrial production and everyday life. Fushi Reservoir is the most important drinking water source in Anji County. It supplies daily drinking water to half of the population in the county. The water from there is also used for the industry, agricultural irrigation and eco-environmental replenishment. The main contaminant are nitrogen and phosphorus carried by the rivers that converges into the reservoir and has potentially deteriorated the water quality. The design aimed to improve the water quality, treat the tailings from the Hangai Town Wastewater Treatment Plant and rainwater in the plant area upstream of the Fushi Reservoir. Based on results from on-site investigation and research, our design fully used existing ditches, low-lying land, etc. as functional water quality upgrading units. The purpose of pollutant removal is achieved by building a grid pool, a sedimentation pond and a series of  aquatic vegetable ponds and a vertical flow filtration ponds. Native species of aquatic vegetables such as water celery, wild rice stem and lotus were planted in the aquatic vegetable pond. The constructed wetland water purifying system is formed and still used for agricultural purpose. It does not only purify water by removing N and P  but also create a harmonious landscape between people and water. Implementation of the project contributed effectively to the pollution control to Fushi Reservoir.
